  • Important Message Regarding Temporary Administrative Changes at Our School, Posted February 16, 2017

Dear Parents/ Guardians of Englewood Students:

The Englewood Public School District has made some temporary administrative changes at the High School.  These changes are the result of the ongoing investigation of transcripts, grade calculations and credit values.  Although I cannot go into detail at this point, it has been discovered that there has been a wide-spread failure to properly account for student graduation requirements and grades that is contrary to Board policy and education statute and code which is independent of the migration to the new system.  This investigation is on-going and is being conducted by an outside agency hired by the Board of Education at the direction of the Department of Education.  Please know that the New Jersey Department of Education Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance also will be extensively reviewing this matter too.

During this time there will be several positions held by interim personnel.  These temporary employees all hold proper certifications and are highly experienced in handling situations of this nature.

We are confronting this challenge head-on and we have every belief that we will take corrective action that will positively impact the entire student body at the High School.  Please be assured that our main goal is success of the children in the Englewood Public Schools.  Please note that while no final staffing decisions have been made at this time, our highest priority is the integrity of our school system and maintaining the public’s trust and confidence that we are doing everything within our power to safeguard and advance the interests of our children.

Next week while the District is officially closed, counselors will be available to review student’s grades, credits and transcripts.  They will be available to you from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm in the common area of the Dr. Martin Luther King Hall.  During that time they can review your current pathway and determine any discrepancies that may exist.  During this time, students will be given many opportunities to develop action plans to graduate on time.

While change is confusing, sometimes the hardest thing we have to do is to move forward and work together towards a solution.  I ask for your patience and cooperation as we move forward together.

    With Raider Pride,

    Robert Kravitz. Superintendent
